Core Philosophy
The human body is an intelligent, spontaneous, self-healing mechanism. In light of this, correcting the most complex injury, pain, or disease condition is possible when the body's homeostatic (self-healing) systems are properly understood, supported and functional.
Self-Healing
Self-healing is a constant process. We fall, sprain an ankle, or break a bone. Self-healing systems kick into high gear. Pain, swelling, bleeding, tissues heal. We cut ourselves. Pain, bleeding, swelling, clotting, tissues heal. Sickness strikes. Fever, detox, cell death, cell renewal. We heal.
Human cells are constantly being created and replaced. Every cell has a lifespan. Red blood cells live 4 months. Colon cells 4 days. Cells work hard till they die and are replaced by new cells. This is self-healing. It all happens within the body. It is spontaneous, powerful and predictable. . . until stress or trauma impede their delicate functions.
Biological Decline
Biological decline refers to the gradual deterioration of an organism’s physical and physiological functions as it ages. Biological decline is considered a natural part of the life cycle and often associated with various factors, including cellular damage, genetic mutations, and the cumulative effects of environmental stressors (including injury). However, biological decline can be significantly accelerated by poor lifestyles, excessive exposure to micro poisons and most commonly, simple repetitive wear and tear and/or traumatic injury.
Tissue Compression
Injury, whether by hard impact or subtle wear and tear causes tissue compression within our connective tissues. Tissue compression impairs micro-circulation and fragile cell to cell interactions which creates confusing and complex problems with pain, migraines, repetitive injury problems, joint impingement syndromes and arthritic degeneration. Depending on the extent of tissue trauma (macro or micro), injured tissues can experience a compressive tightening force of up to 2000 lbs per square inch. This phenomenon creates compounding problems AND accelerates biological decline and aging diseases.
Micro-circulation
Micro-circulation is the last and most fragile phase of our vascular system. Micro-circulation happens in capillaries where oxygen and nutrient rich blood gets delivered to every cell throughout the body. Capillaries are tiny, more than 1000x smaller than the tip of a needle. In spite of being microscopic in width, capillaries are long. If you lined up all your capillaries in single line, they would wrap around the earth more than 2.5x. With large adults, they will wrap the earth more than 4x. Capillaries on average are 60,000 to 100,000 miles long.
Capillaries are fragile and easily compromised by injury and wear and tear by compounding problems with tissue compression in joints and soft tissues. Tissue compression on capillaries weakens micro-circulation (blood delivery) to connective tissue cells. Compromised blood flow robs oxygen and fuel sources to connective tissue cells. This hidden problem creates a cascade of degenerative problems which accelerates biological decline (faulty aging) and arthritic disease.
Faulty Aging Syndrome
Faulty Aging Syndrome (FAS) is a new core concept coined by Age Lab Founder, Vic Rakhshani, that explains the mystery of non-organic biological decline. As already stated, cells have a natural life span and when they die, new cells replace them. However, where micro-circulation is compromised (by stress or trauma) cells and tissues can NOT self-repair and this accelerates joint and tissue breakdown. Most adults are familiar with the saying "Aging sucks." which commonly refers to aching joints and bones that feel much older than they really are. FAS is a more effective way of defining unnatural aging diseases. FAS can happen fast or slow depending on the degree of compromised blood flow to cells.
Current Healthcare Models
Current industry models treat superficial aspects of pain and disease leaving the deeper, hidden causes of pain, loss of micro-circulation, biological decline and FAS completely unresolved. The alternative branches of healthcare are more sensitive in their efforts to address the deeper causes but also lack research science to address what impedes the body from healing.
Age Lab's Healing Process
At Age Lab, we pioneered neurovascular research to create a new, therapeutic model of algorithmic and functional (hands on) diagnostics to identify primary and peripheral injury zones as well as hidden micro-trauma, tissue compression, FAS and biological decline deep within body systems and the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, cartilage, nerves and bone). Further, we created a continuum of safe, functional, and dynamic "condition-specific" therapies to enhance, rebuild, and restore vascular weaknesses between cells and tissues where the real work of self-healing occurs.
Age Lab's Healing Model
The success of Age Lab's healing model is based on:
-
We address all injury zones, compensating factors, biological decline, FAS, as well as inflammatory immune responses at both the tissue and organ levels.
-
We address a new realm of hidden micro-pathologies that impede soft tissue functions as well as inflammatory and vascular processes.
-
We identify and address deep breeches in 5 major body systems that impede the natural biological processes that govern the core self-healing functions of the human body, including the organic production and distribution of stem cells.
-
We rebuild dynamic and functional strength through neurovascular based mobility, corrective exercises and dynamic strength and conditioning principles.
Exercise (Healing vs Injury)
Not all exercises are equal or appropriate. A wrong exercise OR correct exercise, performed wrong, can cause or lead to injury. Even the right exercise performed properly but with the wrong "load" or "frequency", leads to injury. This explains why athletes and non-athletes commonly injure themselves in the weight room.
Self Care
We built a holistic model that becomes the framework for optimal health. In other words, if you can't duplicate it at home, how useful or functional is it? Self care is "self care". We either do it well or not. When you have a true foundation of what it takes to perform, heal, and age properly, you now have a sustainable model that you can actually live out and enjoy the real benefits of aging well.
The Rakhshani Method
The Rakhshani Method (TRM) is a term to describe Age Lab's regenerative system. TRM, was dubbed 20+ years ago by a group of clients and athletes who worked with Vic Rakhshani in his early research years. Since then, TRM has evolved into a complete model for reversing complex sport injuries and chronic degenerative disease conditions through a 3 Phase process.
Understanding Stem Cells & Why They Fail
Stem cells are master healing cells that differentiate into other cell types and divide to create more of their own kind. Stem cells are key players in normal self-healing processes that help our tissues renew and self-repair when needed. Stem cells "seem" to work masterfully when we are young but, not as we age. Why? Key factors that include injury syndromes, tissue compression, FAS, biological decline, and other stress related causes create deeper complications within the body that govern the body's self-healing processes. As such, stem cells that are produced within the body AND many other key biological cells are no longer able to fulfill their roles necessary for self-healing and tissue regeneration.
Stem Cell Injection Therapies
Stem Cell Injection Research is a very important aspect of healthcare. While stem cell injections are legal in the US they must be carried out under very strict FDA guidelines under the jurisdiction of private Research Universities. While Stem Cell therapies are still highly experimental, it is important to note that they are not a magic bullet and many failures do occur. Age Lab works with a nationally recognized physician in Stem Cell Research to create more effective outcomes by integrating Age Lab's self-healing model before cells are injected. While some come to Age Lab believing that they need stem cell injection therapies, most do not. For those who need stem cell injections, Age Lab will first address the deeper problems with micro-circulation (enhances the natural production and distribution of stem cells), to better prepare the individual to receive stem cells (via Doctor's injections), which notably helps to reduce stem cell failures and improve healing outcomes.
